The 8th International Symposium on Targeted Anticancer Therapies (TAT 2010) will cover the most promising new drug targets and drugs affecting these targets. TAT 2010 will provide overviews - in keynotes and expert reviews - of drug development by molecular target but also presentations of recent results of early-phase clinical studies with particular targeted agents. In addition, the program will feature combinations of targeted agents with each other or with other treatment modalities, as well as updates on approved targeted agents, preclinical target identification and validation, preclinical drug profiles, biomarker studies, methodology of anticancer drug development and regulatory issues in anticancer drug development.

Annual TAT meetings are characterized by:
• Focus on innovative agents with a cancer-specific molecular target, in particular the most promising ones in early-phase clinical development;
• Top-level international program committee and faculty, warranting high scientific standards;
• Educational introduction of target biology in sessions addressing a specific molecular target
• All-plenary program with ample opportunity for interactions and discussion;
• Opportunities to present results of ongoing clinical trials and translational research in front of an expert audience;
• Medium size in terms of the number of delegates, allowing the release of original data prior to the ASCO Annual Meeting;
• Attention to methodological and regulatory issues in anticancer drug development.

Participating in TAT 2010 is important for a broad range of professionals in academia, industry and governmental agencies with an interest in the development of new cancer therapies. Previous TAT meetings have shown a nice mix of delegates with different backgrounds and functions in these types of organization, contributing to a fruitful exchange of views.

TAT 2010, in Bethesda, MD, will be the second congress in this successful series held in the United States. After the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) joined the NDDO Education Foundation as a partner in the organization of annual TAT congresses, in 2008, the venue of the meeting alternates between Europe and the United States. The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) has been a partner since 2005. The previous meeting in this series, TAT 2009, was held in Amsterdam in March 2009. All TAT meetings, whether in Europe or the United States, are organized according to the high standards set by numerous NDDO 'new drug meetings' and educational events over the past decades.
